Over 600 years ago, the Joseon Dynasty built a great stone wall to protect Seoul. Most of it still stands. Today, you walk it.

The Hanyangdoseong City Wall stretches 18.6km around the historic center of Seoul, passing over four mountains, through ancient gates, and alongside neighborhood streets that look nothing like modern Korea. With Min as your guide, the walk becomes a living history lesson — every stone has a story.

Choose your distance: the full 18km route for serious walkers who want the complete experience, or a scenic half route covering Bugaksan, Inwang Mountain, and lunch at Namdaemun Market. Both routes include a well-earned meal and great company.

Some sections of the wall have been lost to history — the stone is gone, but the route lives on as a beautiful city walk through Seoul's neighborhoods. Having a guide makes all the difference: Min knows exactly where the wall was, what stood here, and why it matters.

Complete the full 18km and receive an official Seoul City completion certificate and badge — issued by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. A genuine achievement worth framing.

Why this walk?
The Seoul City Wall is one of the most underrated experiences in all of Asia. Walking it with a local who knows its history transforms a hike into an unforgettable story. Min knows every viewpoint, every legend behind each gate, and every gap in the wall that most walkers simply miss.

Half Route (~9km)
~4–5 hours. Bugaksan → Inwang Mountain → Namdaemun Market lunch. The highlights in half a day — perfect for those who want the best of the wall without the full commitment.
  • Start
    Meet & Morning Briefing
Min meets the group at the starting point, introduces the day's route, shares the wall's 600-year history, and explains where the wall survives as stone — and where it continues as a city walk through Seoul's streets.
  • ~2 hrs
    Bugaksan — The Highest Point
We begin with Bugaksan — the northern mountain, historically closed to the public until 2006. The trail still feels untouched, with panoramic views of Gyeongbokgung Palace, the Blue House, and all of north Seoul below. Original wall stones line the path throughout. If you're lucky, you might even spot wild deer roaming the slopes — they're still very much at home here.
  • ~30 min
    Snack Break & Refreshments
Min provides snacks and drinks to refuel mid-route. A chance to catch your breath, ask questions, and take in the view before the next section.
  • ~1.5 hrs
    Inwang Mountain
The second mountain — dramatic granite boulders and sweeping views of central Seoul. Where the wall stones are missing, the route becomes a scenic city walk through quiet residential lanes.
  • ~1 hr
Namdaemun Market — Lunch & Tea
A sit-down lunch at Namdaemun Market — one of Seoul's oldest and most beloved traditional markets. Min takes you to her favorite spots for an authentic Korean meal. Half-course ends here. Full-course guests continue after lunch.
  • ~1.5 hrs
Namsan (N Seoul Tower Section) — Full route only
The southern mountain. The wall climbs up toward N Seoul Tower — iconic views of the Han River and the full city skyline. A mix of original wall sections and beautiful forested paths.
  • ~1.5 hrs
Naksan Park — East Wall — Full route only
A peaceful descent through Naksan Park — lush green pathways, traditional village rooftops below, and the restored wall weaving through residential streets. This is the hidden Seoul that most visitors never reach. You may also recognise the area — it was featured as a filming location in KPop Demon Hunters.
  • End
Hanyangdoseong Museum — Certificate & Badge — Full route only
The finish line: the Hanyangdoseong City Wall Museum, where full-route walkers receive the official Seoul City completion certificate and badge — issued by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. A real achievement. Min celebrates with you and shares her final Seoul recommendations before farewell.
