Most visitors to Bukhansan take the same crowded trail to the same peak. This is not that hike.

We head to Sumeunbyeok (숨은벽) — a hidden wall of granite cliffs that most tourists never find. The trail winds through quiet forest, past ancient boulders, up to open rock faces with sweeping views of Seoul below. At 780m, you'll feel like you have the whole mountain to yourself.

After the hike, we stop for lunch at a local restaurant run by a grandmother — the kind of place only regulars know. Think authentic home-style Korean food and cold makgeolli — the satisfaction of a real local meal earned on your feet.

Why this trail?
Sumeunbyeok is one of Bukhansan's best-kept secrets. The rocky terrain, dramatic granite walls, and near-empty paths make it a completely different experience from the standard Baegundae summit route — more rewarding, more beautiful, and far more memorable.
